I was heartbroken when I saw the nominees of the 58th Baeksang Awards. Move to Heaven and Taxi Driver were not on the list. Story-wise and performance-wise, these two dramas deserve recognition in South Korea’s biggest award giving body for film and TV shows. As a fan of Korean drama and award shows, it felt like a robbery.

Its ratings in nationwide South Korea (6.346% for episode 1) and (5.826% for episode 2) proves how viewers are interested with this storyline. It is not yet in the top 10 shows on Netflix here in the Philippines, but with a promising story, it sure will rise to the most watched drama soon.

Episodes 7 and 8 of the K-drama ‘The Devil Judge’ have shown us interesting interactions of the show’s characters, especially how these interactions are rooted in each other’s pain, brokenness and suffering. In episode 7 we saw the conversation between Kim Ga On and Elijah where Ga On opened up about the tragic demise of his parents. By breaking this wall on his pain, an emotional bridge was established between them two as Elijah also is haunted by the tragic death of her parents.
After a year of waiting, the narrative that explains how the zombie attack in the Kingdom of Joseon started is finally unveiled in ‘Kingdom: Ashin of the North’. Helmed by the same director and writer, Kim Sung-Hoon and Kim Eun-Hee respectively, that brought the international success of the first two installments. The special episode was well crafted in providing the missing piece of the puzzle by showing Ashin’s background story. Driven by mad vengeance, Ashin’s character answered the questions left by the first two seasons and at the same time creating a portent of an exciting narrative extension and continuation to the story.
