Adding a Vitamin C in our routine can be tricky and overwhelming due to the existence of a wide array of options and derivatives of vitamin c in the market at present. As a skincare junkie, it also took me awhile to incorporate vitamin c in my routine but I am glad I finally did! Here is my review on the current vitamin c serum that I am using and loving.
But first…
What is VITAMIN C in Skincare?
Like a normal Vitamin C that we intake, Vitamin C in skincare fights off free radicals that our skin may come in contact with because of its potency in antioxidant. With this, it helps our skin cells regenerate and repair the damage caused by the sun’s UV rays. Moreover, a medical aesthetician from Baylor College of Medicine in the person of Kim Chang said that using vitamin c in our skincare routines can protect us from the sun. According to her, studies have shown that if vitamin c is used in conjunction with a sunscreen, our skin is further protected from photo damage. Furthermore, she adds that pollutants attack and damage our DNA; since vitamin c is an antioxidant it aids fight oxidative stress and allows the aging process to slow down.
Which part of the routine should VITAMIN C be part of?
Typically, vitamin c comes in serums and as such it should be used in the serum/active stage right after toners and essences respectively. However, there are vitamin c products that come in powder form and is preferable to mix with your moisturizer. As stated above, it is best to use vitamin c during the day since it aids the sunscreen’s efficacy in protecting our skin from photo damage.

Personal Experience
I discovered this product through a recommendation from my cousin who has been using it for months and have been loving it. I ordered the product and immediately incorporated it in my morning routine. The serum is slightly viscous with a pale yellow tinge in color.
Surprisingly, it is a very hydrating serum. It spreads evenly and absorbs really well. I didn’t feel any pronounced stickiness and tackiness during and after application. The smell is nice but not overwhelming. After a month of using it, I can already see results on how it has helped even out my skin tone and brighten my complexion. I only use two pumps everyday. However, if your skin type belongs to sensitive to overly sensitive, you may want to reconsider or patch test first because this serum contains four essential oils (Bergamot fruit oil,Lemon peel oil, Lavender oil, Cananga Orodata flower oil, Orange peel oil) which may cause sensitivity to your skin. For my case, I have not experienced any contradictions or irritation and my skin seems to enjoy and until I find a better alternative, this will be my staple vitamin c serum.
I hope this article can help you in choosing your Vitamin C and how you can include this skincare active in your routine.
